You might need to store items somewhere before you move into your new premises. This is particularly true if you are having your new place refurbished, or are waiting for it to be completed. Putting items into storage means you can move them to your new office as and when you need them, and this can take some of the stress out of the moving day itself.

Storing Stock

If you sell bulky items, then space at your workplace can often be at a premium. Renting out storage space for stock means you have more room in your regular workplace. There are, however, certain items which you are not allowed to store, or which you are permitted to only under conditions. Food and perishable items should not be kept at either site, unless they are so securely packed that they do not attract vermin.

The storage of potentially hazardous materials is also forbidden. These include:

  • Flammable or combustible materials such as gas, paint, petrol, oil, cleaning solvents or compressed gases;
  • Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents, toxic waste, and asbestos and any substance which could emit fumes or odours;
  • Any goods which are environmentally harmful or which represent a risk to any other person’s property;
  • And any firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition.

We also don’t allow currency, deeds and securities to be stored at either site, nor any items which are either unsafe, unlicensed or illegal. You can’t keep any pets or living creatures there, and we also suggest that you don’t store items which are of such high sentimental value that you would consider them irreplaceable.
